With regards to the 2022 Notice of Estimated Ad Valorem Taxes:
The City of Pratt is required by state law to report the maximum potential amount of property tax increase needed each year by July 20th. That date was obviously before the proposed sales tax vote on August 2, 2022, and before the August 3, 2022 announcement of the generous anonymous family's pledge to pay for the upcoming construction of the Pratt Pool Project. If there was a "no vote" on the sales tax initiative, and if there had been no pledged donation to fund the Pratt Pool Project in full, then the maximum potential amount of property taxes that City residents may have been required to pay was an increase of 14 mills. The City of Pratt commissioners, staff, and citizens are celebrating the amazing pledged donation to cover the expenses of the pool project. The City of Pratt has just concluded its budget workshop, which was a public meeting. The expectation is to approve a budget next month that will reflect a 1 mil increase over last year, as a result of large increases in City costs due to inflation.
